This CD contains my family's entire collection of high resolution photographs of the carving's construction during various phases of development. Unique one of a kind perspectives of the mountain during its transformation from bare rock and some of the equipment, tools and the men who carved it. These photographs were taken over a period of four years, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966. I do not know of any others that have survived in a collection this large. I have never seen any of these photos in the museum at the park or anywhere else. To the best of my knowledge, none others exist.
There are a total of 171 photographs in this collection. My Great Uncle is pictured in many of the photos and also my Great Aunt and one of her friends are shown in one of the photos up on the platform. My great uncle was the man who fell to his death during the completion of this landmark.
